APPLICATION OF SOLAP (SPATIAL ONLINE ANALYTICAL PROCESSING) TECHNOLOGY IN URBAN PLANNING

Abstract

SOLAP technology is an attempt to compensate gaps that exist in individual cases, the use of GIS and OLAP technologies. The integration these two technologies and creating SOLAP application allows the users to clear view certain phenomena, ie. to visually locate them precisely within a given territory, to define the development and depending on that take specific steps to develop further strategies. Urban planning is an area where SOLAP technology is intensively applied. The text describes how it is possible, within a single SOLAP applications, integrate GIS and OLAP technology for faster and more efficient display of aggregated data on the map. One example of “Monitoring of construction of infrastructure facilities in Belgrade” in the public enterprise “Belgrade Land Development Agency JP.”
