Abstract

Business Performance Management (BPM) is a series of processes and applications designed to optimize the execution of business strategies. It is based on continuous improvement of business performance cycle: modeling of business processes, deploying models using appropriate technology, running models in concrete business system, monitor of business events and performances, analyzing of their connections and proactive adaptation on new events and their consequences. This paper offers a complete definition and explanation of BPM methodology and an overview of relevant technological solutions. Solutions that are accepted as efficient and are applied broadly are taken in consideration: IBM’s, SAP’s, Microsoft’s, SAS’s and Oracle’s solutions. A lot of parameters participate in selection of one, concrete solution and, as BPM has extremely “enterprisecentric” orientation, it must be kept in mind that is the strategic and expensive decision.
