MOBILE DEVICES AND DISTRIBUTED INFORMATION SYSTEMS - CENTROPROIZVOD COMPANY

Abstract

This paper is based on the project case study, which is developed for the Centroproizvod company. Project address and optimize business logic, and automation of the procedures for collecting data from a distributed remote locations, and grouping them at the one centralized database store. Mobile devices based on the Windows Mobile 6 operating system are used in this project for the application and database hosting. Periodically - based on scheduler, or by demand, this data are distributed to the central database stored at the company headquarters. Also, data flow is realized in the opposite direction, from the central database store to the mobile devices, using predefined business rules in order to optimize network resources. Distributed system is realized on top of the Microsoft .NET platform, XML Web services and SOAP standards. Communication between distributed end points runs throw protected http channel using GRPS and 3G communication services offered by the Telco provider. Application created for the mobile device use Microsoft .NET Compact platform and Microsoft SQL Server Mobile edition database.
