Abstract
This paper gives definition, classification and history of CMS systems. Standards in this area are shown, as well as criteria for evaluation and classification of CMS systems. CMS systems that are in use in several countries are analysed. Three distincitve open source CMS systems have been analysed and comparative analysis is given.
