Abstract

Directly entering a large amount of data into an SQL database, besides being insecure, can be a problem even for extremely computer literate users. In order to make this task easier, both from the point of view of difficulty and from the point of view of performance, and in order to provide the opportunity for more people to be able to enter data in the SQL database, it is necessary to enable it to be done in an easier and faster way such as is with the help of Excel. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations provides exactly that, providing users with the export of data from a SQL database to Excel tables. Then, it allows users to view, add, modify or delete the desired values as well as import those changed data back into tables in the SQL database. This document contains a research part, which introduces the reader to the existing working frameworks that enable this, such as the Data Management Framework (DMF) and the Excel add-in used in Microsoft Dynamics 365 software for enterprise resource planning. The aim of this document is to familiarize the reader with the above mentioned services and enable readers to use the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Management Framework and the Excel add-in to manage the data contained in the SQL database tables in a fast, а safe and а simple way. This method represents the export of data to Excel tables, their modification at the Excel level as well as the import of that data back into the SQL database.
