OPENSOURCE SOFTWARE ADOPTION IN EGOVERNMENT SYSTEMS

Abstract
This paper presents an overview of software architecture of eGovernment systems, and analyzes current and possible future implementations of OpenSource software systems in eGovernment. Available OpenSource solutions for operating systems for workstations and servers, office applications application servers, web servers and RDBS systems have been
discussed. Experience gathered in some EU countries has been presented, and reasons for adoption of OpenSource solutions, as well as software strategies adopted in some EU countries in regard to possible future use of OpenSource software.
