IOT SYSTEM FOR MONITORING PARAMETERS OF A LAKE WATER -- PART 1: TECHNICAL SOLUTION

Abstract

With the rapid development of humanity, the need for natural resources is growing rapidly. Inadequate use of natural resources, together with the global industrial trends, leads to fewer and fewer available sources of clean water that can be used for drinking. Thus, the need has appeared to manage and digitalize the water management sector. The development of the IT industry and the IoT concept has created a great opportunity for the mentioned need. In this paper, we present a model of the system that solves the problem of monitoring water quality parameters in lakes, and forwards the given information to the server. The presented system can be applied to other water sources as well. System is based on the IoT concept, and consists of three parts. One component is built on the NodeMCU platform, the other component is implemented on the RPi platform, and the server part of the system is done in the Django framework. The paper describes the system and presents one of the possible solutions, after which the application of the mentioned system is described, as well as the advantages obtained by applying the system. In the conclusion of the paper, the reader is presented with further steps in the development of the described system. Through the work, the goals of the work were met and the desired contribution of the work was achieved.
