The rapid growth of Wireless LAN (WLAN) systems drives the need to support security solutions that meet the requirements of a wide variety of customers. There are vulnerabilities on all levels in WLANs and therefore security is so important for wireless networks. In this paper an overview of wireless communication technologies is given. The basic security types, as well as advanced security methods are described.
