Abstract

Modern information and communication technologies and especially Internet of things, enable material cultural heritage to resist the challenges it faces as a result of increased industrialization, unfavorable climatic factors and mass tourism. This paper presents a model of scalable architecture of the system for material cultural heritage property monitoring which utilizes the technologies of the Internet of things and includes multilayer data processing which has been collected through sensory components of the system. The model’s been implemented through the “Intelligent Culture” system that enables monitoring of heritage assets located in the territory of Arandjelovac. This system enables real-time monitoring of material cultural assets, identification of events when the assets are endangered, analysis of the collected data, reporting and alarms through the mobile application and the web dashboard portal. Evaluation of the system has shown that the information it provides is useful for preparing preventive and protective measures, protection of heritage assets and that the system changes the attitude that administrative entities have when it comes to applying information and communication technologies in monitoring and protecting heritage assets.
