APPLICATION AND DIRECTIONS FOR THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF WIRELESS COMMUNICATION IN INTELLIGENT TRANSPORT SYSTEMS

Abstract

Information, communication and multimedia content in vehicles have a major influence on future development in the automotive industry as well as intelligent transport systems. In this paper the current achievements and future development of wireless communication in emerging and developing intelligent road transport systems are presented. The development of these systems affects on increasing the safety of the traffic participants, transport efficiency, decreasing traffic jams that significantly reducing air pollution, availability of multimedia content for all passengers in the vehicle via direct Internet access. Wireless communication is one of the most important technologies essential for the functioning of intelligent transport systems. Many issues concerning the providing of relevant information about road conditions, connection to other smart devices, and display the desired multimedia content in vehicles will be overcomed by using the 4G LTE techology, as well as short and medium range wireless networks. These networks are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which become the standard of multimedia communication in vehicles. Over the following years, the vehicles will communicate and share information with each other and with traffic control centers. The development of communication systems will certainly influence the functioning of cellular networks, by enabling more frequent and accurate updating of the transport system data in real time.
