This paper analyzes recent researches on the subject of spreadsheet development methodologies which indicate there is still no methodology specifically designed for this type of application. For that reason, in various applications similar mistakes are often repeating. Some authors have given the idea of applying existing development methodologies for information systems on spreadsheets in order to overcome the identified problems. As opposed to them, this paper presents the idea of applying currently the most popular non-traditional agile software development methodologies, Extreme programming and Scrum, on spreadsheet applications. The paper gives the overviews of these methodologies in order to realize their applicability on spreadsheet applications.
